Considering the following scenario: you‘ve a computer running Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3). When you open a TIFF document by using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, and rotate the TIFF document either clockwise or counterclockwise. In this scenario, the TIFF image becomes a garbage image on the screen, and the file is corrupted on the hard disk. “This problem occurs because Windows Picture and Fax Viewer outputs a TIFF file in CCITT Group 3 format with 1D encoding. Therefore, when Windows Picture and Fax Viewer opens a TIFF file in CCITT Group 3 format with 2D encoding, the file is corrupted.” A hotfix is available for this specific issue, but affected customers will have to contact Microsoft.
