As of July 1st 2009, Web Services Dynamic Discovery (WS-Discovery) Version 1.1  is officially an OASIS standard. Discovery bits included in the .NET 4.0 Beta1 package implement this specification. OASIS, which is an acronym standing for the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards, defines itself as a not-for-profit consortium focused on fueling not only the development, but also the convergence and adoption of open standards that are designed to serve the global information society.
