Microsoft continue to improve the features and services available for the Windows Media Center on your TV. Following the release of a new US Sports Channel back in March, Microsoft launched Netflix within Windows Media Center. Using the two together is easy and convenient, and will give users access to more than 12,000 movies and TV episodes directly on their PC, search the Netflix library and manage their instant and DVD queues, all from within the Windows Media Center interface. If you also have an Xbox LIVE Gold membership and have been streaming Netflix movies and TV episodes to your Xbox 360, this offering will work for you as well (same Instant and DVD queues and all!). It’s all done in a Silverlight application embedded within Media Center which looks really cool.

In Windows Media Center, a new Netflix tile will appear under “TV + Movies”. To stream movies and TV shows from Netflix, just click on the new Netflix tile and login with your Netflix account. At this point, Netflix is available on Windows Vista Media Center as well as Windows 7 in the future in the USA. Extenders aren’t included - this is TV on your PC, rather than TV on your PC on your TV. Bundle in a plugin like TunerFree MCE, and you have a very comprehensive TV and Movie viewing selection on your PC.
