Betaworks has launched a real-time website monitoring service called “Chartbeat,” that offers a dashboard to show “how many people are on your site at any given moment, where they are, where they're coming from, and what they're doing, as well as conversations and links from Twitter”. You can set up chartbeat to report when your site is slowing down or is unreachable, view and receive alerts about the actual load time that your users are seeing. All it requires is one line of Javascript to be inserted on a site and then it pings Chartbeat every 10 seconds.
