Microsoft published the first fix for Internet Explorer 8, consider the following scenario: “On a computer that is running a 64-bit version of Windows Vista, Windows Internet Explorer 8 is installed. You clear the Enable access to this program check box for Internet Explorer in the Set Program Access and Computer Defaults settings. By doing this, you disable access to Internet Explorer. Note The Set Program Access and Computer Defaults icon is located in the Default Programs item in Control Panel. You log off from the computer, and then you log on to the computer by using a different user account. In this scenario, the Internet Explorer (No Add-ons) shortcut is still listed on the Start menu. Access to Internet Explorer 8 is not removed as expected,” explained Microsoft KB969058.
