Microsoft in collaboration with its partners is offering a “free web hosting for a total of 60 days as well as the Microsoft Expression Web ($299 value) and Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition”. Provided that customers will host their websites, and additional content, including Internet-based applications, on Microsoft web platform. Customers can choose from following three options:  Shared hosting: Basic Web presence and content management; Virtual dedicated hosting: Custom Web application development and high traffic; Dedicated hosting: Content and applications on your hardware.

    Microsoft IIS hosting will cost much more than Apache / Linux. If people are willing to pay more for their hosting, maybe Microsoft will do ok.
