This post talks about the improvements that will be in Windows 7 Release Candidate as a result of feedback from the beta test. There’re many under the hood changes, bug fixes, compatibility fixes, performance improvements, and improvements. Here are few highlights:

  1. Aero Peek triggered from Windows Flip (ALT+TAB)
  2. Windows Logo + <#> keyboard shortcut
  3. Custom theme improvements
  4. A slew of changes to the taskbar and jump lists, including some visual tweaks that “squeeze in 24-39% more icons before the taskbar scrolls.” If I understand that correctly (no visual is included), it should also get rid of the excessive open space on the taskbar.
  5. Aero Peek for touch with refined functionality
  6. Drag/Drop and select items with touch, even inside scrolling pages
  7. Direct support for playing back .MOV files (like the ones my digital camera records), without requiring me to install QuickTime. Hallelujah.
  8. User Account Control
  9. Reduced confusion with drag/drop a folder into the Libraries node in the Explorer navigation pane
  10. FAT32 support
