Alexander Wechsler posted an article on customizing the appearance of Windows Embedded Standard (WES) 2009. The “user interface needs to be optimized according to the device purpose and should not behave like a PC.” The article lays out the following six ways to fine-tune a device's appearance: Tuning the boot sequence; Using automatic logon; Turning off welcome screens; Using a custom shell; Turning off status messages; Customizing background colors
