Gmail Title Tweaks “Show unread messages in title”

Gmail Labs added a new feature Title Tweaks that changes the order of the elements in the browser title bar to put the more important things first. Once you turn on Title Tweaks from the Labs tab under Settings, your browser title bar will display something more like "Inbox (3) - Gma..." to let you see how many unread messages you have even if the window is minimized.
