The Virtualization Detect (DetectVp.EXE) tool is the logo test for checking if the system meets the requirements for Microsoft Virtualization Software. This test checks virtualization support for both Intel and AMD processors. DetectVp queries the processor features by using CPUID instructions and by reading MSR values of certain registers. The information is collected by the digitally signed DetectVp driver for all of the processors that are present in the system. After the information is collected, DetectVp validates the information and checks if all of the processors in the system are homogenous and whether they support the same set of features.
