The new Kindle has a 6” diagonal E-Ink electronic paper display, 600 x 800 pixel resolution at 167 ppi, 16-level gray scale; size (in inches): 8” x 5.3” x 0.36”; weight: 10.2 ounces, and storage: 2GB internal (approximately 1.4GB available for user content). It has received an upgrade to the shape and durability of the chassis, and incorporated a metal back plate into the body design.

Kindle 2 has several newly-added features, such as text-to-speech reading capability, Whispersync, the ability to sync two or more Kindle devices with marked pages, and the Kindle experimental, testing for new Kindle functions.
