Intel intro power-efficient Core 2 Quad CPUs with price cut

Intel made sweeping changes to its desktop processor line with its first high-efficiency quad-core chips. Apple’s China website selling refurbished products

Apple Inc said on Tuesday it had launched an online shop selling second-hand Apple products in China, offering discounts of up to 22 percent, as it looks to beef up its business in the country. Microsoft to unveil SkyBox at MWC – Apple’s MobileMe competitor

Microsoft is reported launching a mobile phone syncing product called “SkyBox” at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona next month, which will allow syncing of contacts, email, SMSs, calendar items and pictures into the cloud. The service should compete with Apple’s MobileMe. In addition, Microsoft will also apparently unveil an enterprise version of SkyBox called SkyLine

Microsoft Security Releases ISO for Vista SP1 and XP SP3 – January 2009

This DVD5 ISO image file contains the security updates for Windows released on Windows Update on January 13th, 2009. According to Microsoft, the DVD5 ISO image file with the security patches for Windows are available for Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows XP (including SP3), Windows Vista RTM/SP1, and Windows Server 2008.

User Account Control (UAC) and Server Core

UAC is not available in Server Core, since it is a command line only interface, doesn’t have IE, or support for user applications. In addition, to use UAC with the command prompt you need to have the Explorer Shell so that you can click Start, right click on Command Prompt, and select run as administrator, which obviously isn’t possible on Server Core.

Downadup worm uses ‘Social Engineering Autoplay’ Vista and Windows 7 vulnerable

The Downadup worm utilizes autorun.inf files to spread via removable devices such as USB drives. The autorun.inf uses some tricks, such as variable size, to help avoid detection. Bojan Zdrnja at SANS Internet Storm Center recently posted some additional analysis. Downadup attempts a social engineering trick in Windows Vista.
