Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 brings to the table a new level of connectivity, which permits POS solutions to seamlessly integrate with peripherals, servers, and services, which was announced at the National Retail Federation (NRF) Annual Convention & Expo, representing an evolution of the offerings under the umbrella of Windows Embedded Ready product line.

Microsoft is offering a trial version that’s costing US$2.95 plus shipping and handling, and will have to be ordered straight from the Redmond company. Customers will be getting a fully-functional Windows Embedded for Point of Service 2009 trial version time-bombed to expire after 120 days, and the chance to run almost for free the platform that is credited with 36% of retail and hospitality POS shipments in North America in 2007, according to IHL Consulting Group.
