Cherple is a new web service that lets anyone with an internet connection across the globe carry on a two-way text conversation with any U.S. mobile number for free. It works much like Google’s new Gmail SMS service launched last month.

How it works: First you’re required to download the Cherple application (free to use for PC users), then install it like anyother Windows app. Once installed, click open shortcut icon, the Cherple checks for a live Internet connection and connects to the Cherple network. On a successful connection, the invitation screen will appear – Enter your name; name of the mobile user; and the 10-digit valid US mobile phone number of the person you wish to chat with. Once all the fields are filled in, click on the Invite button. An informational screen will appear. When ready, click on Start to begin the Cherple chat session.
