Microsoft’s Qi Lu hold no of patents
When Microsoft hired Qi Lu to head its online services group three weeks ago, the company trumpeted that the Yahoo veteran holds 20 patents. A look through Lu's patent filings shows that Lu's interests extend beyond search.
Among his patents: Lu is listed as an inventor of a gaze-based secure keypad system, designed so that onlookers would not be able to steal data entered into a device such as an ATM. An eye tracker would follow the movement of a user as he looked at a virtual keypad, avoiding the need for the user to punch in numbers.
