Mobile Broadband for Windows 7 allow users the ability to connect via a cellular modem limiting the need for a connection manager. Separating the driver from the connection manager should makes mobile broadband more accessible to the general public who, for very good reason, get frustrated with the complexity today. Both Option and Sierra have already announced driver support for Windows 7 Mobile broadband which means that many of the devices used by the current US carries will be covered.
