The Social Gaming Network (SGN) has released two free games for your iPhone: First, “iGolf for iPhone” — aWii-like golfing game, that has been downloaded more than 900,000 times. iGolf is an accelerometer-driven game that sets you on a virtual driving range. From there, you choose from three clubs. iGolf then beckons you to clasp your iPhone tightly and swing it like a golf club. The ball flies through the air across a 3D landscape, lands, and presents you with virtual yardage statistics. Scores are recorded, with high scores yielding cheers and poor scores giving way to silence.
And now comes, “iBowl for iPhone” — a bowling game, which uses iPhone’s accelerometer to detect a player’s swing. You can twist your wrist to give the ball spin or direct it to the pins. iBowl is free and you can challenge your friends to games. To play iBowl, the user depresses the 'BOWL' button on the touch-screen interface throughout the swing and releases the button at the end of the swing to direct the bowl down the bowling lane. By twisting your wrist while you swing the iPhone the player can create spins and control the direction of the bowling ball. Updates to this game will be available by October 13, 2008.
