Photo credit Google BlogoscopedGoogle brought back their search engine as it was in January 2001. Below an old-school Google logo, the input box invites you to search through “1,326,920,000 web pages”. A search for Gmail returns “gmail.linuxpower.org”, a Linux “email client for the Gnome desktop”.

We had so much fun searching that we wanted to put this old index online for everyone to play with. We thought it'd be even cooler if we could actually see the full versions of the old web pages, so we worked with the Internet Archive to link to their cache of these pages from 2001.
