Microsoft IT is facing an issue that affects many organizations. Data centers are reaching space and power-consumption capacity rapidly, while many servers that data centers house are running at very low utilization. To address these issues, Microsoft IT is pursuing virtualization aggressively as a way to reduce the number of physical servers running in the data centers, while still providing the same services to Microsoft business groups.
