Cron schedules are used by WordPress and WordPress plugins to allow you to schedule commands to be executed at regular intervals. Intervals must be provided by the WordPress core or a plugin in order to be used. WP-Crontrol lets you take control over what's happening in the WP-Cron system.

Same here, was using the wassup plugin and the wp-cron.php file went crazy. I'm trying to work with this plugin and get everything automated again.

This has to be one of the least understood aspects of Wordpress blogging. I know I never paid any attention to it until I started using the Wassup plugin for stats and began seeing all those wp-cron.php entries, some of which were 40 or 50 lines long.

Good to read up on this a little, as I can see how it could consume a lot of resources in a hurry if not kept in check.
