Back in January 2004, Google had implemented WHOIS OneBox feature, that was lasted only two weeks. It seems, Google has re-introduced the feature, when you search a phrase like [whois google.com], Google shows a OneBox followed by the domain name. The OneBox features currently shows the date when a domain was created and when it will expire. Unlike, last time querying Network Solutions WHOIS database, this time Google partnered with DomainTools to gather the required information for OneBox.

Jay Westerdal, CEO of Name Intelligence (the company that owns DomainTools), said in a March interview: “The feature was supposedly be released last month, but it seems like that Google has postponed it till now.”

Ionut reports that after 3 or 4 page views, DomainTools shows this message “You have reached your daily lookup limit as an guest user. Please login or register”. Maybe Google should partner with companies that have less restrictions.
