The Google Talk team has released “Labs Edition” of Google Talk, which’s a way similiar to Google Talk Gadget with most of its features. However, this application release doesn’t support features like File Transfer and Voicemail.

As the FAQ explains: “Labs Edition is an experimental release that brings some of the great features of the Google Talk Gadget to the desktop. Some features like voice calling and file transfer from the Google Talk client did not make it into this version.”

But it has some new features like: it lets you launch Google Calendar and Orkut, while including notifications for Google Calendar events and Orkut scraps. The new Google Talk uses WebKit to render the interface, so it's not a Flash application.
