The Quintura Blog reporting that Google may buy “Bigmir.net”, the leading Ukrainian destination website with 2.5 million users. Quintura speculates the deal might be worth $100 million and says online advertising in the Ukraine was worth an estimated $12 million in 2007.

If it were true, Google would likely displace Russian search engine Yandex, which currently provides results for Bigmir.

    Totally wrong sources.

First of all - Google are NOT going to buy Bigmir, they just made cooperation with Bigmir in key of their program Google Google Apps Gmail and since the end of 2007 provide users of mailboxes @Bigmir use their mail with all advantages of interface Gmail.

Second - Bigmir is not the leading portal in Ukraine, only between number 2 and 3

I can say even more - Yandex already started moving to Europe - i wrote about it in my blog - http://russia20.com/2008/02/yandex-in-europe/

    Greets,
