Israeli company, SoliCall, has launched a version of its background noise suppression technology to run on Windows Mobile smartphones.

According to SoliCall, the technology works by identifying the voice of the speaker and suppressing all the other extraneous sounds being picked up by the microphone.

SoliCall's software for use with VoIP softphones running on Linux and Windows PCs has been available for over a year, downloadable and self-installable. According to this very thorough review in The Inquirer, works really well.

The Windows Mobile version, however is intended to be installed by cellphone manufactures or providers of mobile VoIP services. SoliCall claims that: "manufacturers, operators and end-users alike will enjoy its benefits: better sound quality and improved customer satisfaction; reduced power consumption which will increase battery life; and lower opex for the operators by reducing the required bandwidth to handle phone calls."
