Dev Parikh of Hack MSN Spaces along with Little Fish Big Pond, have put together a nice set of backgrounds for individual blog posts that you can download, add in the html, and customize your Spaces on a per post basis. Quite a nice set of background images, especially if you're into fantasy:

Looks like it's pretty easy: just go to the Hack MSN Spaces SkyDrive folder, choose a background, download the html and insert it into your blog entry, and enjoy.  The full set of directions are here.
