Diskeeper says that accidental file loss is very common and that Windows does not capture all deleted files. Diskeeper's latest version of the recovery tool, Undelete 5, replaces the Windows recycle bin with a catch-all Recovery Bin. This recovery module tracks and stores all deleted files, irrespective of the manner in which the file was deleted or lost.

Diskeeper, which claims to have sold 26 million licenses of Undelete, says that the tool offers a data protection safety net which enables the management of future file deletions and automatic file version protection for Microsoft Office files stored in desktops, network servers and laptops.

The company says data protection is one of the key features that Undelete 5 provides. It also ensures that users with Windows Vista do not have to restart their systems after installation, and enables the recovery of older versions of Microsoft Office 2007 files, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Undelete 5 also claims to provide the option to recover files that were deleted even before the tool was installed.
