Microsoft has termed the concept behind this transformation: ‘Software plus Services’, or ‘S+S’. “S+S is the weaving together of the best of software and Internet services to provide a new generation of rich experiences that are personalized, integrated and available anywhere, giving users greater choice in how they interact with others, information and activities they value most. S+S is a broad concept encompassing several existing service models, including ‘Software as a Service’ (SaaS), Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Web 2.0.
