Microsoft looks set to launch a 'YouTube for games' service in the future, which would host and share game content created by users with the company's XNA development platform.

XNA Group general manager Chris Satchell has explained that providing people with "a stage to play on, a distribution medium so that they can show off their creativity to everyone" has "always been our vision, and remains our vision", in an interview with Develop magazine.

He described a service that would allow sharing of PC and Xbox 360 games built with XNA as the "next really big step" in opening up distribution platforms, although added, "We don't have anything to announce about it yet".

"...but I think it's really exciting", Satchell said.
