Malicious code attacks over instant messaging networks are up almost 80 percent over last year, according to a new study from vendor Akonix.
In July, the company, which develops IM hygiene and compliance appliances and services, said it uncovered 20 malicious code attacks over IM in July. The total number of threats for 2007 so far

AMD’s latest roadmap reveals the company’s model numbers for the performance and mainstream Phenom X4 and X2 processors. Despite AMD issuing model numbers, the clock speeds are still ballpark figures and not yet set in stone. AMD has two Phenom X4 and three X2 models planned. Wikia's project to develop an open source search engine got another boost with its acquisition of the Grub distributed Web crawler, the company announced Friday.
Wikia acquired Grub from LookSmart and released it under an open source license, adding a significant component to Search Wikia, scheduled to debut in this year's fourth quarter.

Kontron has unveiled a proposal for a next-generation, small form-factor, embedded computer-on-module (COM) standard. Dubbed nanoETXexpress, it has a footprint just 39 percent of the PICMG (PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group) COM Express standard.
