Barely a month after Creative launched the Zen Stone, its well-received attempt to take on the iPod Shuffle, the digital music giant is releasing a beefed-up version: the Zen Stone Plus.

It is lightweight, with a digital display, 2GB of storage (up to 1,000 songs), an FM radio, clock/stopwatch and integrated microphone for voice recording.

The Plus has customisable equaliser settings and a programmable one-touch shortcut button for easy access to favoured functions. It works like a flash memory drive — plug it into your computer, then drag and drop tracks on to the player.

The rechargeable battery lasts 9.5 hours on a single charge, and it’s compatible with major file formats, including WMA, MP3 and Audible’s audiobooks.
