I just received the latest biweekly Canadian TechNet IT Newsletter and in it they mentioned the “Future of the Server Room Tour ‘07″ taking place in Canada along with a few more interesting details. The tour is mainly aimed at Canadian IT Professionals and will give them a chance to have an early look at Microsoft’s “Longhorn” Server, System Center and Forefront products. Most importantly, Microsoft mentioned that Windows Server Code Name “Longhorn” Beta 3 will be made available to those who attend all 4 sessions at any of the specified locations of the tour.
The dates and locations for the tour are as follows:
- May 8, 2007: Ottawa
- May 10, 2007: Montreal
- May 15, 2007: Calgary
- May 17, 2007: Vancouver
- May 30, 2007: Toronto
So what does this all mean? Microsoft are getting very close to completing their work on Windows Server Code Name “Longhorn” Beta 3 as one would no doubt expect considering the April CTP of “Longhorn” Server was basically a Beta 3 escrow build. Nevertheless, Microsoft have for the first time set an actual deadline for themselves and they have to finish Beta 3 by May 8 in order to be ready for the first location of the tour in Ottawa. I would expect Connect beta testers and MSDN/TechNet subscribers to receive the build at roughly the same time if not before the actual tour.
