Sierra have announced that their SWAT series is now bound for the PSP, with 3G Studios handling the conversion, due out stateside in the autumn. SWAT: Target Liberty is the title of the new game, which will see the SWAT team tackling a band of terrorists hell-bent on wreaking havoc in New York.

TV script writer Scott Rosenbaum (The Shield) is working on the plot of the new PSP creation, with plenty of thrilling action likely to be the outcome. A third-person tactical shooter is the gameplay of choice, with players taking control of Ken Thatcher, who in turn is in charge of a SWAT team.

A unique system for team-based control is on the cards, with other SWAT combatants following Thatcher's lead as you storm rooms and chase around after the bad men. 12 singleplayer missions are planned, and there will be four-player ad-hoc multiplayer support too.
