Earlier this morning, EA announced plans to create a new spinoff from their Sims franchise, specifically slated for the Nintendo DS and Wii. Titled “MySims, the series will take the existing Sims gameplay and give it to you on a neighborhood scale. Now, not only are you responsible for your own Sims needs, and the creation and maintenance of their house, you’ll be taking control of the growth of an entire town. Dictate the city’s growth, help life flourish… or just lock everyone in a building and throw away the key.

Executive Producer Tim LeTourneau had this to say:

By giving players the tools to create literally any kind of world they want in MySims, we’re reinforcing the idea that the players create the magic. Will the town support a plethora of spooky, mysterious townsfolk—or buzz with the laughter and smiles of fun-loving Sims? It’s your call! In MySims, what players make… makes all the difference!

The first two games in the MySims line are expected to launch this Fall. No word yet on how the unique DS & Wii control schemes will be factored into this, but with EA at the helm, you can expect it will be something interesting.
