WordPress v2.1 was released about 15 days ago, on January 22nd. Since its release it has been downloaded almost 20,000 times a day! According to the WordPress download counter’s check, at the moment, it’s 310,515 downloads.

The increased traffic on the site as a result has put a strain on the single server it runs on, I hope by this time, new server must have been added, as Matt said in his post.

The figures shows, a huge number of people running WordPress blogs, and the popularity of WordPress among the blogging fraternity.
