Dell announced that it is already delivering Microsoft Windows Vista ready desktop and notebook systems.

Dell engineers have spent around 100,000 hours testing and validating the new OS for specific hardware configurations and the company is now ready to offer their clients an unparalleled experience, combining the latest hardware equipment with the most advanced software on the market.

Dell's Vista systems are built to deliver a complex digital experience, while keeping usability standards simple and secure. Still around the same price as 
before, most of Dell's systems now come with various editions of Windows 
Vista installed by default. Users can now easily access high definition video materials, quickly organize their digital photos and music, make quick file searches and navigate the Internet more securely. The Vista systems include dual or quad-core CPUs, more extended memory, high-end graphics cards, wide-screen displays and generous storage space, allowing users to take full advantage of the new Vista features.

Initially, Dell’s systems will include only the English French, German and Spanish version of Windows Vista. In the weeks to come, Dell will make sure that more languages are going to be supported on their systems. Dell adds that all their custom-built systems should include a dual or quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, a 256MB graphics card, in order for users to be able to run the Vista OS.

As far as Microsoft collaborations are concerned:

  • Dell tested the new Vista OS on more than 500,000 hardware configurations, making sure that all standard and custom-made systems are compatible with the OS.
  • More than 3,000 employees from Dell's technical department were specifically instructed in order to give pertinent solutions to all Vista-related problems coming from their clients.

However, some customers requested a dual-HD CableCARD to be used in concordance with Vista, but Dell hasn't yet included such a feature for the time being.
