WordPress v2.0.5 Is Out!
The latest version, WordPress 2.0.5, has been released to the public few days back. It’s a must upgrade for everyone as this includes security fixes.
We have about 50 or so bugfixes, which you can review on our dev tracker here, mostly minor bug fixes around feeds, custom fields, and internationalization. If you’d like a nitty-gritty view, check out Mark’s blog post on the changes.
How to install for the first time or upgrade: There are two ways:
- 1. If you are installing it for the first time, you can download full version of WordPress 2.0.5, and follow these installation instructions.
- 2. For existing users, using WordPress 2.0.4, you can download latest version from the above given link, and follow these upgradation instruction.
- 2.a. If you’re running v2.0.4, and don’t want to download full version, Mark has a download of just the changed files to save your time.
Note: A small minority of WP users have experienced 500 Internal Server error messages after upgrading to WordPress v2.0.5. If you are part of the small minority of WP users seeing 500 error messages (or anything about 302) after upgrading to WordPress 2.0.5, listen up.
First, download this plugin, upload it to your wp-content/plugins/ directory and activate it by going to the “Plugins” menu and clicking “Activate” next to the “WordPress 2.0.5 Tuneup” listing. If you get the error message after logging in and thus cannot click the “Plugins” tab, manually type {WPDIR}/wp-admin/plugins.php into your address bar.
