Following Amazon.com's publication of Vista and Office 2007 prices and availability dates, Microsoft officials are doing some damage control. Amazon is claiming it got its Vista pricing info from the latest Microsoft price sheet (see this post & this post). "I'd love to be able to tell you that this is in fact the (Vista release) date, but there's nothing we can confirm right now."> Ditto on Office. In spite of Amazon's publication of a January 30, 2007, release date for Office 2007, a Microsoft spokeswoman said: "I'd love to be able to tell you that that is in fact the date, but there's nothing we can confirm right now." If you were Amazon and making up arbitrary dates that are in keeping with Microsoft's guidance that Vista and Office are likely to ship by the end of January, wouldn't you go for the last day of January, as opposed to the second-to-last? Maybe not, but we sure would.
