The Fujitsu Mag EraSURE family of products utilizes a rare earth
permanent magnet to degauss magnetically recorded information. Data becomes permanently unrecoverable by commercial means(1) once exposed to the powerful magnet in the device. In addition to purging recorded information on the storage device, including servo and calibration data, the degausser also destroys most read/write heads.

"The rise of the digital age was accompanied by a dramatic increase in the creation and storage of sensitive customer data," said Dan Dalton, director, Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc. "From an operational perspective this can cause challenges, one of which is how to securely dispose of confidential information after it has served its useful purpose. Mag EraSURE is the solution to that problem offering users a fast, easy and reliable way to know that their information won't fall into the wrong hands."
