Today, Microsoft is pleased to announce the availability of Beta 2 of Windows Vista. Beta 2 is a very important milestone for Vista as they inch closer to RTM (Release to Manufacturing). Here is some important key highlights as well as release information for Beta 2:

  • Beta 2 is available for MSDN, TechNet, TAP Adopters, and Technical Beta Testers. In the coming weeks, Beta 2 will be made broadly available through a Customer Preview Program (CPP).
  • Enterprise users are encouraged to deploy Beta 2 in their environment and to download Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.0. - Developers are strongly encouraged to use Beta 2 to help design applications that take advantage of many of Windows Vista’s new features such as WinFX.
  • Hardware Developers are encouraged to utilize Beta 2 for driver development.
  • And most of all, when available, consumer enthusiasts are encouraged to check out Beta 2 and try out many of Windows Vista’s features and enhancements such as new photo capabilities, Windows Media Player 11, Media Center and much more!
