Windows Live ID: More Than Passport With a Face Lift
Microsoft still has yet to take the official wraps off its Windows Live Identity service. But company execs are sharing more details about how Windows Live ID will be positioned, vis-à-vis Passport and InfoCard. Instead of characterizing Windows Live ID as Passport 2.0, Microsoft is talking it up as the online identity-authorization solution for its growing family of Live properties. As we noted back in 2004, Passport was well on its way to becoming a Microsoft-centric entity, with third party partners abandoning Passport, left and right.
